SPECIAL EVENTS
Children's Snowflake Party - Every
December, MAGMA hosts a party for the children so they can celebrate
their first Christmas in Canada. Presents and snacks are provided
by local businesses and organisations. Children play games and get
to meet other children who are new to Canada.
Multicultural Annual Dinner
- MAGMA holds an evening of international cuisine and entertainment
every year in April. This dinner is open to the public to promote
harmony and understanding. It also presents an opportunity for various
community members to get to know one another.
SPECIAL PROJECTS
In 2001, MAGMA created a special project called Racism Education,
Cultural Awareness. This project's goal was to increase youth awareness
and understanding of racism and multiculturalism issues. In February
2002, the students of the five high schools of the Greater Moncton
Area were invited to make a poster or write a short essay or poem.
Winners in each of the three categories from each school were announced
on March 21st,2002, which is the International
Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination. This project
was sponsored in part by Canadian Heritage and the City of Moncton.
