Blind

I often sit and wonder
Why the world cannot be at peace,
Why we feel the need for power,
Why we see no reason
Our fires should cease.
Not only gunshots but angry words
Plague our world today.
It seems like very few people understand that
It can no longer be this way.
If only we could stop our shouting and shooting
For a second or two,
We might notice that the person on the other side
Is not so different,
And that there is something much better we can do.
We could take time to get over our prejudices,
And find out the reason our enemy is how he is.
Nobody can say what is right and what is wrong
Because it is different colours and beliefs
That make up the human race to which we belong.
We must stop judging people
Before we know who they really are
Because one day, it might be you who gets a hateful word.
And then, it will be your heart on which there is left a
Permanent scar.
So throw away hate
And make an effort to be kind
Because if we keep going an eye for an eye...
The world will eventually be
BLIND.
