Why?
I did nothing to them,
Wondering why I am in the wrong,
I am just living my life,
In this community where I want to belong
I'm treated like an outsider,
With nothing of value to share,
Aren't I something more,
More than my skin or the colour of my hair?
I am unable to escape this stereotype
Even when I walk into a store,
I've never stolen in my life,
But I am assumed a thief, and nothing more.
I know that someday,
Tolerance will win out,
Despite what they may say,
Peace will reign without doubt.
And the day will come,
When we are all valued the same,
Hateful ignorance will be gone,
We will all have a place inside life's picture frame.
